Inspiring Innovation at GSTEP: A Proud Moment for Old Tafo

Today at the Ghana Science and Tech Explorer Prize (GSTEP) event, I had the distinct honour of witnessing something truly remarkable — and it came from right here in my own constituency.

St. Benedict R/C School from Tafo Nhyiaeso, located in the heart of Old Tafo, presented an innovative project that left me deeply inspired. Their creation, aptly named “Solar Haven,” stood out not only for its technical brilliance but for the hope it represents for our country.

“Solar Haven” is a practical and forward-thinking solution designed to harness the power of the sun — capturing solar energy, converting it into electrical energy, storing it in batteries, and distributing it efficiently through a solar charge controller. This isn’t just science; it’s real-world problem-solving by our brilliant young minds.

I’ve known of St. Benedict R/C School for some time, but seeing their students display such intelligence, creativity, and confidence filled me with pride. It reminded me that innovation is alive and thriving in every corner of Ghana — especially here in Old Tafo.

Our young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow — they are innovators today. What they need is our encouragement, our investment, and our belief in their potential.

I am proud of St. Benedict R/C School. I am proud of Old Tafo. And I am more hopeful than ever about the future of Ghana.
